With Progress Towards Stability, Our Focus Shifts to Growth & Retention
Dear Fellow Rotarians,
While there is much work to do, I am proud of the progress our Executive Director, board, and club have made towards our first three goals:
  1. Empowering and supporting our Executive Director in reorganizing club operations
  2. Returning to Club 24’s roots: the Business & Community Leaders’ club
  3. Enhancing our programming to be more attractive to members and prospects alike
While we will endlessly keep improving these areas, we are now positioned to focus on two key areas.

While we will endlessly keep improving these areas, we are now positioned to focus on two key areas.
 
Adding New Members (Business & Community Leaders) to Our Club
We have less than 1% market penetration of our target market (Business & Community Leaders in SLC).  So much opportunity!
Our membership chairman, David Waldman, shared concerns from his committee regarding lunch costs for prospects.  In response, all prospects can now attend up to 2 lunches at the club’s expense.  Members inviting guests will no longer bear this burden!
Additionally, board member Dave Durocher suggested we also cover a lunch for the member inviting the guest.  This also takes effect immediately, rewarding those who are helping us grow!
Retaining and Deepening Involvement of Current Members
The depth of participation of our roughly 150 members varies widely:
  • 90 largely only pay membership dues
  • 25 pay dues, and attend lunches regularly
  • 20 pay dues, attend lunches, AND participate in regular service
  • 15 do all the above and take on committee/board leadership roles
Our esteemed president-elect, Heidi Ruster, is passionate about membership retention.  She has wonderful ideas to get existing Rotarians more involved, keeping them in the club longer.
In closing, I appreciate everyone who has supported Jacqui and our board in reorganizing our club for growth.  I have no doubt that our club’s reputation and community impact will flourish as we add and retain members!
