We have so much to be proud of in the last calendar year! In June, we created a 3-year strategic plan to align with our purpose at the Rotary Club of Salt Lake City: to advance world understanding, youth engagement, goodwill, and peace through community service, professional development, and fostering international relationships. We believe in the power of collective action, 4-way test and the importance of service above self. We agreed to do this through enhancing our member retention, realistically growing our membership, and continue to enhance our reputation!
Thanks so much for our board, committees, members, and Executive Director to support these goals! We have supported our retention with improved programs, wonderful service opportunities-local and international like our Tree UT planting and Adopt an Elder food box preparation, Pop up events- at awesome spots like Delice and and our wonderfully successful Gala held at the Sheraton in October. Our efforts to better streamline and lessen expenses have been extensive and continues. We have worked hard to enhance our weekly programs to engage significant and resonant speakers. We have brought on 10+ new members and appreciate everyone's efforts, but our retention is more challenging than expected. Lastly- our work to enhance reputation continues with our ED, Jacqui Volands efforts to increase partners and sponsors through the Chamber, University of Utah, Alta Club and otherwise. We have received some media attention through PBS+, but we REALLY need some help and leadership for our Public Image committee to move this forward. Our International Committee has been busy with recent engagement in Cambodia and Morocco and follow up with work in India. We were also able to optimize our Scholarship system and number of recipients in the last year. We have committed to supporting recipients through their college career(UT institutions) while incorporating expectations related to Rotaract engagement... This has revived our Rotaract clubs and activities and looking forward to deeper engagement of Interact members. Lastly- great appreciation to Linda Kruse for Franklin Elementary support through tutoring, Sub for Santa and Jeff Young and Yesco for help in bringing back Career Day. I'm also grateful to Scott Leckman and Charlie McCleskey to bring levity and member connectivity with our Sgt at Arms engagement!
I am excited for the next 6 months to address our goals and more deeply connect our next president, Don Weakley while supporting the Nomination committee to determine our next Rotary leadership! Thanks for everyone's engagement and support and we look forward to continuing to make a deep impact for each other and our communities!!
Happy Holidays and Warm Regards to all!!
