ROTARY PARK AT CITY CREEK
2008 CLEAN UP REPORT
May 19, 2008
On May 17th, thirty-two members of Rotary and other volunteers cleaned up the seven picnic areas including the picnic area at the North Fork Trailhead, which is next to the Rotary sign. This event was held under sunny skies and a downtown temperature in the eighties. This was one of our largest attended clean-up events and afterwards a picnic was held at the pavilion. Those activities included:
a) Painted picnic benches.
b) Planted native flowers in the circular areas where the Rotary wheel is located.
c) Pruned branches and chain-sawed fallen trees.
d) Weeded and raked each area of debris.
e) Painted the Rotary Sign at the entrance to the Park.
City Creek Canyon and the City and Rotary Park picnic areas are open to cars on even days, which is approximately 50 days per year. In 2007, only 74 reservations for Rotary Park were taken by the City’s public utilities department. There may have been many other visitors to Rotary Park to use the picnic facilities, but they were not documented.
